Hey, hoping for a bit of advice here. My AC isn’t cooling at all, so I thought I’d try recharging the refrigerant myself before heading to the dealer for a full diagnosis. I’ve got a 2019 Niro EV EX Premium, and I believe it has the heat pump system.

When I popped the hood, I noticed two ports that look like they could be for recharging. One is back near the firewall (marked yellow), and the other is right at the front of the “engine” bay (marked green). I’m not sure which one is the right one to hook up the recharging hose. Has anyone done this before or know which port I should be using? Any tips or things to watch out for?!

Use the yellow-marked low-pressure port to recharge the refrigerant in your Niro EV. Watch out for overcharging and the sort of refrigerant you use. It's safer to have a dealer diagnose the problem if you're not sure.

While you can technically recharge your non-heat pump AC system with a recharge bottle, it's not the ideal way to do it. For the best results, it's recommended to recover the existing refrigerant, vacuum the system to remove any moisture or contaminants, and then recharge it with the precise amount of refrigerant. This process ensures optimal performance and longevity of your AC system. Skipping these steps could potentially damage the compressor or lead to other issues down the line.
