Hey, just picked up a used Kia Niro EV 4 and I'm looking to put a dashcam in it. Has anyone done this before? I’m struggling with figuring out what size fuse tap to get. Pretty sure it’s Micro2, but can anyone confirm before I order the wrong one? TIA!

My Niro has a hardwired dash cam with front and rear cameras, which is powered directly from the OBD-II port. I've been using it for six years already. Haven't encountered any issues with it.

Based on your description, Micro2 is probably the right choice. With a Viofo dashcam and a standard hardwire kit, you'll just need two Micro2 fuse taps. It’s a simple, affordable setup that should work with most dashcams, unless you’re planning to tap power from the rearview mirror or sunroof.

I’m curious about your dashcam and everyone else seems to be too. Please share an update when you can!

Yep, the Kia Niro EV uses Micro2 fuses, so you’re good to go with that size. When installing, try using an accessory fuse (like for the cigarette lighter) so the dashcam turns on and off with the car. If you want parking mode, you’ll need to find a constant power source, but be careful, it could drain the 12V battery if left running too long.

I agree with @Toni_Cipriani. I remembered how my son also put a dashcam on his car and that;s what he also did. Were you able to install a dash cam on your car?
