I’m looking at a 2021 EX Premium with 18,500 miles and a 2023 Wave with 41,000 miles, both eligible for the Used EV tax credit. I’ll use an OBD2 reader to check the battery's health and charge history, especially quick charges. Price isn’t a big factor, but I’m concerned about the shorter warranty on the Gen 2. Any advice on which to pick?

I normally go for a newer car but the ideal choice depends heavily on your driving habits. Generally, a newer car with higher mileage, if well-maintained, is often a better option. These vehicles are usually driven on highways, causing less wear and tear than city driving. This means you may get more life out of the car than the mileage suggests, while also benefiting from newer technology, safety features, and potentially more power. Also, older cars with low mileage can be more risky due to uncertain maintenance history and unknown driving conditions. They also lack the technological and safety advancements found in newer models.

I think both are solid choices, if warranty is a concern, the 2023 Wave might be the safer bet due to the newer battery tech and longer warranty.

I’m leaning toward the 2023 Wave for the newer tech and likely less wear from highway driving.

That’s what I’m thinking too, the 2023 Wave seems like the safer choice for warranty and newer tech. I’ll keep that in mind when deciding.

That makes sense! The 2023 Wave definitely has the edge with updated tech and warranty. It’s always good to go with the safer option for peace of mind.
