Niro EV saved us

I can't believe how lucky we are! Got rear-ended on the highway by a speeding idiot. Our 2023 Niro EV took the brunt of the impact. We flipped over but miraculously walked away without a scratch! The car is totaled, but it saved our lives. Now I'm dealing with the insurance nightmare since the other driver was a hit-and-run. Any advice on dealing with insurance after an accident like this?

Glad that you guys are all safe and sound. That's more important than the car. I think that would be declared as a total wreck. My advice is to go talk to your insurance about it.

I'm so glad you're okay! I had a similar experience with a hit-and-run, and dealing with insurance was a nightmare at first. After the accident, I immediately took photos of the scene and damage, and filed a police report. When I contacted my insurance, they were helpful in getting a rental car, but it took a lot of persistence to get them to cover everything. I also had uninsured motorist coverage, which helped with the costs. The process was slow, but having all the documentation made it easier to manage.
