Yesterday, I noticed a flashing warning light on my Kia Niro EV with a message about the P button (see image). It’s not on all the time, and the car is driving fine, but I can’t find anything about it in the manual or online.

I’d rather not go to the dealer if this is something I can fix myself. Has anyone else come across this? Is it safe to keep driving, or should I get it checked out ASAP?

Your car seems to think the parking brake is still engaged. Have you double checked to make absolutely sure it's fully released? Sometimes they can be a little finicky. If it is definitely off, maybe try giving it a good push down and then releasing it again, just in case it's stuck.

You should probably take your car to the dealer. This sounds like an issue with the "P" (Park) button. You can also check your owner's manual for more information.

That flashing warning light sounds a bit concerning, though I’m no car doctor. If the car’s still driving fine, it might not be an emergency just yet. It’s worth giving the manual another glance for any hidden clues and maybe doing a quick reset to see if it clears up. If it keeps happening or you’re unsure, a trip to the dealer might be the best move, better safe than sorry, right?
