Has anyone experienced the “Refill Inverter Fluid” error on their Kia Niro EV? I have a 2022 Niro EV EX, and the warning started popping up intermittently. Sometimes it disappears for a while, then comes back. When I checked, the coolant level in the reservoir was just slightly below the MIN line, so I topped it up with the Kia battery coolant (expensive stuff, by the way, $60-80 a bottle). That worked for a bit, but the error returned, and I think the coolant level may have dropped slightly again.
I know there was a recall on earlier Niro EV models for a battery coolant flush and updated coolant formula, but my VIN and production date supposedly weren’t affected. I’ve read that this could be caused by crystallization in the cooling lines, or a faulty sensor, or even a defective cooling pump or something, i'm not sure of.
I’ve scheduled a dealer visit to get it checked. I’ve also heard some Hyundai EVs have a similar problem, so it might be more common than I thought. Any advice would be great while I wait for my appointment!
