I’m hoping someone here can shed some light on an issue I’ve run into. I have a 2020 Niro EV, and my 12V battery recently died. Thankfully, it gave out after we got home, so I went to the dealership, picked up a replacement, and swapped it out myself.

Since replacing the 12V battery, I’ve noticed a significant increase in noise when accelerating and during regen. It’s much louder than usual, and it’s been bothering me. I did some digging and found that Niro hybrids have a similar issue after 12V battery replacements, which they can fix by pressing the 12V battery reset button. However, I can’t seem to find any such button on the Niro EV.

I also tried using the factory reset option, hoping it might recalibrate the system, but it didn’t seem to have any effect, my infotainment system didn’t even reset, so that was a bust.

Could it be a calibration issue with the EV system after the battery swap, or might there be something else going on?

Why don't you ask the dealership what could it be? I have never heard about this before. Is the replacement battery the same as the original one?

It might be a problem with the EV system's calibration. Have you attempted to force a system reset by unplugging the 12V battery once again for a few minutes? Checking with the dealership could be helpful if the noise continues.

I’ve heard of this before, EVs can be so picky with battery swaps. Try disconnecting the 12V again, wait a few minutes, and reconnect it. If it’s still loud, the dealership may need to run a quick software calibration to get the motor and regen systems back to normal.

I tried researching to find an answer and some insights into your issue, but didn’t come across anything. The dealership is probably your best bet.
