My Kia Niro always defaults to the guest profile

Just snagged a used Kia Niro and I’ve set up my driver profile with my phone, but every time I fire up the car, it defaults to the guest profile. Super annoying, I have to switch it back to mine every darn time. Why even have a guest profile? Any clue why this happens? Also, I couldn’t find a section to set a default driver profile. Is there even such a thing?

To set your preferred profile as default:

1. Go into the vehicle's setup menu.
2. Click on 'User Profiles.'
   • You might need to click 'Change User' first.
3. Look for the small arrow next to 'Profile 1' (this won't appear for guest profiles).
4. Click that arrow to select it as your default profile.

I had the same issue with my Niro. Turns out, the car doesn’t automatically set a default driver profile, so it defaults to the guest profile if no one’s logged in. What worked for me was making sure my phone was paired and logged in before starting the car. It seems to stick better that way! You might also want to check if there’s a software update that could help fix this.
