I’ve got a 2023 Niro PHEV, and I’m torn about whether to go ahead with rustproofing. I’ve been hearing mixed advice:
  • Rustproofing companies say their products are safe and won’t interfere with electrical components or sensors.
  • Dealership says rustproofing “could” void the warranty if it causes a problem, but they’re not explicitly saying it will.
That word “could” is what’s throwing me off. It feels like they’re being cautious rather than giving a clear answer. The dealership also mentioned concerns about undercoating interfering with the car’s sensors, but the rustproofing guys insist their products are designed to avoid this.

So now I’m left wondering:
  • Has anyone here rustproofed their Niro?
  • Did it cause any issues or raise warranty concerns down the road?
I’m trying to protect the car from rust long-term, but I don’t want to risk messing up the warranty.

I remember a friend of my did this as a DIY project. If you have a large enough garage and a means of elevating the car. One of the best methods is to reach every location that is typically difficult to reach with spray guns by using a brush to remove all shields. But that is if you can "confirm" that it will not void the warranty, then I suggest you try. But if the dealership is trying to be sneaky about it, I suggest don't. You'll have headache when you need the warranty in the future.
