I brought my 2022 Niro EV into the dealer for two recalls: the battery safety plug and the inverter coolant replacement. According to the NHTSA advisory, the work should take around 2.8 and 1.8 hours respectively, so I figured I’d have my car back in no time.
Well, it’s been 8 days, and my Niro is still sitting at the dealership with the battery pack waiting to be reinstalled. The dealership says they’re waiting for Kia engineers to approve the repairs, but the process seems completely stuck. I’ve called Kia’s national owner hotline twice, and while they’ve extended my rental car for another week, my car hasn’t budged.
From what I understand, they need to submit a photo of the HV battery leak-down test, and for some reason, it’s not going through. This is getting incredibly frustrating, I’m starting to wonder if it’s worth just turning in the lease and letting Kia deal with it.
Has anyone else dealt with delays like this for the SC 314 recall? Did you have similar approval issues with Kia?
