I got a used 2022 Kia Niro EV last October and I’m loving it! Problem is, it didn’t come with a trickle charger, so I’m thinking about getting one.

The local Kia dealership wants $530 for their kit, what?! That seems super expensive. Is it just a cable to plug into a regular outlet, or is there more to it? Any advice would be awesome! Thanks!

It’s not just a simple trickle charger, what you're looking for is a smart power supply (EVSE), which communicates with the charger inside your car. The dealership kit is likely marked up, but you can find more affordable options online. You might be able to get a 16-amp charging station, which works for both 120V and 240V.

Thanks for the info! I didn’t realize there was a difference between a trickle charger and a smart power supply. I’ll definitly look into more affordable options online and the 16-amp charging station sounds like a good option for both 120V and 240V. Appreciate the help!

Glad I could help, the 16-amp option is a great balance for both voltage levels. Let me know if you need more tips.

I agree with @Watan. Online is the way to go for better prices. Have you checked Amazon yet?

Appreciate the help, purchased from Amazon the Asani Level 1 & 2 EV Charger which operates at 110-240V and 16 Amps and it's working wonderfully
