My 3-year-old Niro EV has been a dream… except for this annoying charging flap issue! I unlock the car as usual, but the lock behind the flap appears to be on strike. Anyone have any solutions for this? Thank you in advance.

What year model is yours? On mine, there's a tiny light near the driver's door controls. It glows when the charging port is locked. The other day, I unlocked it (light turned off) and parked the Niro, but then it complained that the charging door was open. Luckily, it worked fine after that little scare.

This is a mechanical issue that can easily be fixed and it is also under warranty. However, if you want to try and fix it yourself then try to lubricate the hinge with WD-40, and maybe that will do the trick.

There may be a mechanical issue at play here, did you check if there is anything stuck in between the flaps? Is the mechanism showing signs of rust and squeaking noises? If you tried doing temporary fixes on the car and it still shows the same issues then I think its time to hit the dealership to get it serviced.
